Hire a Los Angeles Drone Operator for Your Next Production

Skyecam’s fleet exists because no single aircraft handles every job. A custom heavy-lift rig carries high-end cinema cameras. Smaller FPV frames are for high speed work and indoor flying. A lighting drone covers night shoots and aerial lighting effects. Vehicle tracking and long range flights each need different airframes. Several aircraft are custom built, modified, and tuned to specific cameras, lenses, and gimbals for flight time and wind endurance.

Based in Hollywood, Skyecam serves productions across greater Los Angeles and travels for projects. Clients include studios and brands such as HBO, Netflix, Disney, National Geographic, Nike, and Cirque du Soleil, along with concerts and tours for Post Malone, Taylor Swift, and Karol G. Booking a drone crew for hire means working with an experienced pilot and a full suite of aircraft. The equipment listed below is Skyecam’s own kit, flown by JJ, not a rental catalog. Hire a drone pilot who understands the demands of professional set work.

What does a drone shoot cost for a production?

Producers often ask, how much does it cost to hire a drone operator? The honest answer is that it depends on the shoot. Skyecam quotes each project after a phone conversation, because the scope has to be clear first. The main cost drivers are the length of the booking, whether that is a half day or a full day, and the aircraft. A heavy-lift rig carrying a cinema camera is a different job from an FPV frame.

Location also matters. Sites that require a film permit or an airspace authorization take time to file, and that affects the drone hire cost. Editing time, if any, can be part of the quote, as can a dedicated camera operator for aircraft that need that role. Every production has different variables. Talking through the shoot with JJ Trinidad costs nothing, and the quote you receive will match the work actually scoped.
