This episode of the “The Mentalist” (2013) we custom built a bunch of drones for props and one of our drones was the weapon used in the film. Back then in 2012 these drones were new to the world and just starting get attention from the media. There was no FAA rules or regulations back then so Warner Bros agreed to filming this off the Warner Bros lot in Burbank due to insurance companies not wanting to cover any liabilities. This was all new to the film industry and the writers of the show worked closely with Skyecam as drone consultants and specialist. This was the very beginning of drones.
